STEPi stands for Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute.

Our manifesto is inspired by the belief of our founder, Paul H. Sutherland, to "square the pyramid." When we are born, we do not choose our parents nor the location where we are born. Beginning in early childhood, there are children and families who already have more privilege and access than others, those who live in a world of choices. Society spends significantly more resources on those who reach the top of the pyramid: on higher education and an elite workforce.

At STEPi, we believe it's time to create an inclusive education system based on the science of brain development, early childhood studies, and the science behind positive education, positive psychology, and social emotional intelligences.
