Introducing STEPi

Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute (STEPi) is pleased to announce the launch of our new website!

STEPi is an organization that aims to make sure children are prepared, willing and happy when they reach adulthood. We do this by creating resources like children’s books, teacher guides and workshops that build and inspire emotional, relationship and cooperative intelligences in children and the adults in their lives, such as parents, caregivers, teachers, and community leaders. Working with schools, universities, communities, church groups, teachers and parents, STEPi teams throughout East Africa and South Africa have distributed over 100,000 beautiful storybooks written, illustrated, and printed in Africa. Amani the Boda-Boda Rider teaches girls and boys that they can be anything they wish to be. Happy Girl Happy Boy teaches children about emotions, happiness and how to manage their feelings. Congazori builds environmental awareness. Each book has specific themes that deal with a child´s real, everyday life so that they can relate to the characters and see themselves in each story. STEPi books are designed to help children fall in love with stories, books, and reading, and to help them grow emotionally, mentally and to excite their curiosity. STEPi books have great stories that build virtues, values and character within anyone that reads them.

Our aim with the website is to be a resource for teachers, parents, researchers, educationalists and others who wish to use STEPi books and other tools in their own programs, or connect with other effective grassroots-oriented programs that work toward creating a holistic development for children.

In one of our most recent partnerships, STEPi worked with Nelson Mandela University (NMU) to deliver eight carefully selected books written by Paul H. Sutherland that were placed in 10,000 reusable, thoughtfully designed bags and distributed to children, teachers, libraries, and township schools throughout the Eastern Cape. This BookBag project was a show of collaboration and unity in a time of great difficulty.
